Screw-down crown explained
screw down crown
A screw-down crown threads into the case like a bolt, compressing gaskets for better water resistance — you unscrew it to set the time, then screw it back down before exposure to water.
Why brands use it
Dive and tool watches need seals. A screw-down crown is a standard way to protect the stem opening. It also slows casual time-setting — a feature, not a bug, for watches meant for wet environments.
Daily habit
Always confirm the crown is fully screwed down before swimming or showering (and remember: a rating is not a lifetime guarantee). Never force a crown; if it binds, stop and have it checked.
