Chronometer and COSC explained
chronometer COSC
A chronometer designation means a movement has passed a standardized accuracy test — COSC is the well-known Swiss testing body — not that the watch is automatically the right choice for your wrist.
What certification covers
COSC tests uncased movements against timing standards across positions and temperatures. Other brands run in-house standards that can be stricter or simply different. Certification is about rate performance, not design beauty or durability of the bracelet.
How to weigh it
Useful if you care about regulated precision out of the box. Irrelevant if you prefer characterful vintage timing or quartz accuracy. We mention chronometer status when it supports a brief — we never treat the certificate as the brief.
