Fluted bezels explained

fluted bezel

A fluted bezel has sharp, ridged grooves around it. They once helped grip a bezel that screwed the crystal down. Now they're mostly a signature detail that catches light.

Look and history

Fluting plays with reflection, throwing sharp highlights as your wrist moves. On many watches it reads dressier than a flat dive bezel, though it shows up across categories. Quality shows here: good fluting is crisp, cheap fluting is soft.

Practical note

Fluted bezels catch on knit cuffs more than smooth ones. If you live in sweaters, try one on first, or pick a smoother bezel for a daily watch.
