What an homage watch is

homage watch

An homage watch openly borrows the design of a famous model, with a similar shape or dial, while using different branding, materials, and price. It isn't the original and should never be sold as one.

Honest language

Homages range from a respectful nod to a close cousin to a lazy copy. Good sellers call it an homage. Problems start when marketing drifts toward counterfeit territory, or when a buyer expects to feel like a Rolex owner at microbrand prices.

When an homage makes sense

If you love a look but not the waitlist, the price, or the logo, a well-made homage or a design inspired by the original can be a sensible buy. If being recognized is the point, an homage will disappoint. Know which one you want before you buy.
