Watch complications explained
watch complication
A watch complication is any function beyond simple hours-and-minutes time-telling — date, chronograph, GMT, moonphase, and more elaborate calendar or striking mechanisms.
Useful vs ornamental
Everyday complications (date, GMT, chronograph) earn their keep if you will use them. High complications add craft, cost, thickness, and service complexity. Buying a perpetual calendar because a listicle ranked it impressive is a common regret path.
How we treat them in recommendations
We ask what you actually need on the wrist. A clean three-hander is not lesser — it is often the better daily tool. When a complication serves travel, timing, or genuine enthusiasm, it belongs on the short list with eyes open about service.
