The shape

Parallel side bars (brancards), a roughly rectangular case, and often Roman numerals or simple stick markers define the classic look. Most sit on leather, though bracelets exist. The shape changes how size feels, since width and length both matter, not just one diameter number.

Dress role and variants

Tanks shine as formal or smart-casual dress watches and as a deliberate alternative to round cases. Related shapes (tonneau and other rectangles) often get called “tank-style” in conversation. Useful slang, loose definition. The brand and finishing still decide quality.

Fit
